oh, what a classic, definitely one of the best Pearls Before Swine strips yet – on International Liars Day, Stephan Pastis comes up with an absolute goodie…

yes, yes, you know it – favourite cartoon strip blah blah blah Pearls before Swine… this one being incredible both for the humour but more importantly for the invention of the word “winnery”
[join my PBS campaign – for years now i have been subtly trying to encourage Stephan Pastis, creator of Pearls Before Swine to add a new character – that of a yellow and white stuffed dolphin called No_bob [because he doesn’t bob] who is not real [he’s just a toy so pretty much just lies there] to no avail… why not drop him a mail or a tweet @stephanpastis and suggest the very same thing yourself… he’s got to crack soon…]
i LOVE Parks and Rec – new favourite series and gobbled the whole thing up towards the end of last year by myself as it was the one show i started watching without Val [who had Downton Abbey, White Collar, Weeds, Grey’s and so on by herself while i was busy doing other stuff] and it just got better and better.
the two characters that annoyed me the most in the first season became the highlight for me – Ron Swanson and Andy Dwyers – altho the show works for me cos each character is so solid… but those two are so brilliantly written and acted and just get stronger all the time…
and now tbV has started watching it so i get to do the whole thing over again and the other night we watched the episode where Andy plays “The Pit” song with his ever-changing-band-name band which ends that episode as ‘Mouse Rat’ and the song has completely stuck in my head and so i had to share it with you… [this will be meaningless and horrible if you don’t watch ‘Parks and Rec’ in which case START WATCHING PARKS AND REC people!]
maybe not everyone’s cup of Nachtmusik but that’s okay…
if you’re a fan and want a trip down memory lane, take a listen to Mouse Rat and ‘The Pit’
who is your favourite character and why?
i love Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis – it’s usually good, but every now and then it’s this:

via the Tweeter this morning i received a link to a cartoon page i have not seen before and was immediately mesmerised by the dark edginess of the injured boy raking up leaves where he lay… having scrolled down and taken in some more of them, there seems to be an ongoing theme of slightly dark and edgy and i appreciate that in a cartoon – these are four that stuck out for me but check out the site here for more…
my favourite comic strip continues to be Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis which you can find here and then i also often appreciate Buttersafe – what comic strips regular bring a smile, a laugh, or milk gushing out your nose, to you?
if you have never watched or heard of a Brad Fish ‘Dangerous Things You Can Least Expect’ video then where have you been?
Brad Fish is an alternative persona of Brett Fish [heeeeeey!?!] who runs a You Tube show in which he gives wise wisdom [is there any other kind?] in terms of friendly warning to prepare people from things they might have thought of as being innocent and dangerless but which in fact turn out to be pretty dangerous-potentialistic… you can view some of the old videos here and also here but this is the latest in the series and Brad Fish might have outdone himself…
so from time to time i have started googling the phrase “fun silly pictures of strange weird” just because it seemed like the right thing to do to give a bit of the different flavour to Irresistibly Fish and so far it has done that…
first there was ‘obey this sign’ sign and smoking chicken fish
and then there was bacon cat and toilet mug
and what does week three hold? well take a look at some of these:
Then for the green and eco-friendly minded we have the pea car. And for the artistically inclined it’s Fish in Boat:
and lastly, in a section i like to call ‘HUH?’
