If only this was just a fun cartoon and not a too startlingly close depiction of how too many people view life…

a blog by a simple but complicated guy trying to live life to its absolute fullest and encouraging others to do the same.
i would love for you to add a comment responding to whatever you read here...
For me, getting to know and become friends with people that are homeless is a huge paradigm shifter for me. I believe our culture teaches (at least ‘mericaland culture, but I am guessing this holds true in SA as well Brett) us to live in fear and expects us to be re-active with our fear rather than pro-active with it. This cartoon depicts well our re-action to the fear of not having enough. A pro-active reaction to that fear, for me, is recognizing that my homeless friends have so much less than I and are often much more content than myself. This helps me question how rational my fear of not having enough is. All of that said, it is a daily, sometimes hourly struggle not to succumb to the culturally expected re-active response to fear.
i am literally busy with a piece on racism that holds the same premise of friendship being key. Absolutely. Walking in other peoples’s shoes.
