In the light of all the focus I have had on racism and this whole Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case the last few days, it was really unfair of my beautiful wife Valerie to send me this clip while I was sitting in Starbucks on my day off. It had me crying on the inside from about half way through and then the last line from the older girl just took me down completely…

That is so awesome, B. I LOVE that kids often think in such a refreshing way. They’re not afraid to say: this is bullcrap. I love the boy who says: “We are LITERALLY the same underneath, people. Hello? Organs!” He is awesome. And that girl at the end, for some reason that really got me too, because she’s not just giving a stock answer, she is really empathetic and hurting for people who suffer from discrimination and hate. Her parents must be super proud of her – so many adults don’t even go as far as to try and truly feel other people’s pain.
